About

This is my "photoblog" or "photographic web log". I have been experimenting with DSLR photography since 2008, and now I've decided to share my love of photography with the world.

Giving Respect Where Respect is Due

Regardless of the art form and regardless of whether someone is a serious artist or one who just dabbles intermittently is inspired by someone or something(s), (whether they care to admit it or not) and I am no different. I need to give “respect” where respect is due. Firstly, I should thank my Grade 9 “Introduction to Digital Arts” teachers in high school who let us use (what are now archaic) Pentax Film SLRs and let us develop, process and finish our own films. I definitely found an immediate interest in the art. But the class only lasted a semester and my interest lasted just as much.

I started giving serious thought to SLR photography after seeing Mohammed Hashim rock his SLR around UTM and see the great shots he was composing. Anyone who attended UTM/UofT between 2002-2008 (give or take) would surely have come across him at one point or another. I think it is safe to assume his work inspired many fellow UTMers to take up photography. I relearned the basics of SLR photography from www.digital-slr-guide.com. If you choose to take up photography you should definitely check this site out, it can take you from zero to hero in 1/8000 sec (pun intended :) ). There are many resources (both in print and online) that can help you, and I suggest you read up on some because in order to take advantage of an SLR you really need to know how it works!
